Civil Duty, Smoothies, and Midterms

It is just about the middle of the semester and things are going, going, going around here! I have lots and lots of reading, a good amount of papers, and studying for midterms to occupy my time. In the middle of last week, I was so fortunate as to have the privilege to drive to Riverside for TWO day for Jury Duty. 'Twas a delightful experience! I tried to explain that I was a student who lives in La Mirada but my sorry story sounded like nothing compared to what the other people had to say. The judge told me to take a seat. Luckily I was never called to the box and questioned. The only great thing was I got to have lunch with Aunt Sharon one day!!! It was frustrating to have to miss two days of school, a test, and all my classes, but my teachers have been so gracious and allowing me to make up all my work and tests.
I have also perfected smoothie blending in my room. This beautiful concoction is made up of strawberries, a banana, spinach, water, protein powder, and one packet of stevia. I absolutely LOVE these smoothies in my room. Holly always asks "Is is smoothie time?" When I pull out my Magic Bullet. Oh how I love my roommate Holly:) I have one more class this week because we have Missions Conference this week and I will be serving at Chrysalis this weekend! So very excited!
Enjoying this beautiful Tuesday,
Amanda

Quite the Week!

So work and classes have been normal. Busy, crazy, insane, the usual! I've been trying to take it one day at a time and get as much homework done as possible on the weekends. We only have one more full week then it's Missions Conference week when we only have two days of classes! This week was a tad eventful for me. It started with getting a letter on Monday that I'm going to be an RA next year! I am very much looking forward to this opportunity and honored to have the privilege to serve the Lord and the Biola community in a unique way:) Tuesday and Wednesday I had tests, quizzes, papers, and projects all due and surprisingly I feel like I managed pretty well. In the time between Sunday night and Thursday morning, my room managed to get the messiest it's ever been in college:/ Thankfully I had time to clean it Thursday after class. Coming home to a messy room drives me crazy! Thursday I went to a taping of the Ellen Degeneres Show and it was so fun! Some friends from work and I went and had a blast! She's just so great. I've always loved that lady. We all walked away with $100 gas giftcards! There has been a very strange series of events happening in La Mirada and our surrounding community. Funny thing happened last night. I spent the night in Hope because I was too tired and cold to walk back to Alpha and the fire alarm went off at 3:30am and we all had to evacuate the building..just my luck! Fortunately I got to sleep in until 11. Sleeping that late was not my plan but nice, nonetheless. After a couple of meetings this afternoon and dinner out with my roommate and some friends, I was able to sit alone in my room and work on homework..my ideal Friday night:) So. Great. I actually plan on going to bed very soon. I sure do love going to bed early! I am so blessed.

Still in awe of everything that happened this week,
Amanda
